Public Records Act Info for 13 Western States & British Columbia

CARR presented to the Aging Life Care Association's Western Region Chapter on "Public Records: A Versatile Tool for Senior Advocacy."  Since aging is a highly individualized process, geriatric care managers must remain resourceful and responsive to deliver quality services to seniors and their families. The 60-minute session introduced the concept of public records as a compliment to senior care management by identifying the useful information contained in public records, demonstrating innovative ways to leverage the data and providing instructions on how to gain access.

CARR constructed a useful handout for attendees that contained direct links to the Public Records Acts, State Licensing Departments and whether or not public records are available for view online for the following states - Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, plus British Columbia.  You may click here for a downloadable version of the handout.

There was also a link provided the National Freedom of Information Coalition.  This site includes sample public records request letter, detailed information on state public records acts, open government issues and more.
