(San Diego - 2/28/2017) CARR is one of the four grant recipients under the 2017 San Diego Foundation's Age Friendly Communities Program - a partnership between The San Diego Foundation and The Del Mar Healthcare Fund at The San Diego Foundation. The grant project's findings will move San Diego towards receiving an Age Friendly/Livable Community for All Ages designation from the World Health Organization/AARP.
The program will span one year, and will investigate access and affordability of essential daily support and assistance available to seniors and dependent adults. The project's focus, through data analysis, is to identify gaps and policy issues posing barriers to achieving an age-friendly region; this is seminal work for the region's ever-growing number of 65+ residents who have difficulty finding affordable care and housing. CARR believes this work is imperative as the community collaborates to create affordable house and care solutions.
