Meet our Donors and Sponsors

We are especially thankful for our gracious contributors. It's been their generosity that has enabled us to continue on our mission to improve the care of the residents of California’s assisted living facilities and to support the professionals and legislature to further this goal. … to that end, CARR is proud of its successes so far. … But there's still a long way to go. … and every contribution helps us get further down that mission trail.

Here is a list of the major donors and sponsors who have helped us pursue this mission:

Windward Life Care

Windward Life Care (R), was founded in 2004 to bring the best possible care management and home care experience to San Diego's aging population.  Over the past 14 years, they have touched the lives of hundreds of clients and their families, facilitating family communication, advising on the many caregiving options available, assisting in mediating disputes and providing expert referrals as necessary.  Windward provides Aging Life Care Management (R), professional consultations and care at home.  Windward is a Home Care Organization, licensed by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing.  CARR is proud to be sponsored by Windward Life Care.

The Lois J Hughes Estate: Legacy Gift

CARR has been bequeathed a legacy gift through the Lois H Hughes Trust.  Ms. Hughes was a vital part of active aging in Coronado CA as she was the long-time Jazzercise instructor on the island for nearly 20 years.  Many of her diehard and devoted Jazzerettes were well into their 60s, 70s and 80s - still moving with purpose and enthusiasm.

CARR is honored to be a beneficiary of her estate, and redoubles its encouragement to older adults to "keep moving."  Mobility is the key to living independently longer.   Ms. Hughes was an active member of the Coronado community, and an able and skilled companion for many seniors in the community.  She provided entertaining and compassionate companionship for many seniors - thereby improving their quality of life while eliminating social isolation.  She was loved by many.

Winder-Steed Fund for Positive Change

The Winder-Steed Fund for Positive Change is a donor-advised fund administered through the San Diego Foundation.  This fund supports groups helping people (those individuals who are being left behind or left out)  succeed.  Primary interests of this fund are literacy, food assistance and relief, LGBT services, Alzheimer's support services, and public school classroom supplies.  The fund also supports groups helping animals succeed through rescue, adoption, habitat restoration and conservancy.

CARR values the confidence placed in our work as evidenced by the generous donation from the Winder-Steed Fund for Positive Change.  The fund's philanthropy is an investment in CARR's future, and the futures of other organizations touched by the fund's generosity.

Through the affirming gift of a major contribution, CARR's Anonymous donor is acknowledged for their philanthropy and thanked for their generosity.  We are humbled by the trust placed in us to advocate for those without a voice.
