EDUCATING CONSUMERS IS PART OF OUR MISSION STATEMENT

CARR's staff are frequent speakers in the community.  We speak on a variety of topics - from consumer information about assisted living in California to advocacy issues surrounding regulatory gaps causing risks to resident health and safety.  And Chrisy has a unique presentation on understanding older adults through children's literature.  If you are looking for a speaker for your next organizational meeting, give us a call.   In most cases, we bring our own projector, computer and presentation, so all you need to provide is a screen and an audience.

A Children's Book: "When You're Older"

Outreach / Speakers

CARR is pleased to offer C. L. Selder's children's book, "When You're Older".  Written and illustrated by CARR's own Chrisy Selder, it explains to children the value of growing older and about how one day, they too will be an older adult. Based on Selder's research regarding the misrepresentation of older adults in children's literature, this book portrays aging as a natural process through which we retain our purpose & identity and as an experience that can even make us more interesting.  The book is an attempt to counter the common ageist and stereotypical representations of older adults within our culture.  The illustrations are down to earth and charming - sure to make you and the child in your life smile.
